Bernadette Peters, Victor Garber to Star in Broadway's 'Hello, Dolly!' Revival

Bette Midler and David Hyde Pierce will deliver their final performances in the musical in January. Bernadette Peters is putting on her Sunday clothes for Hello, Dolly! on Broadway. The seasoned stage actors will step into the lead roles of the hit musical revival next year, producer Scott Rudin has announced. They will begin performances at the Shubert Theatre on Jan. 20 ahead of an opening night on Feb. 22. Bette Midler, who won a Tony Award for best actress as Dolly Gallagher Levi in the production, and David Hyde Pierce, who stars opposite her as Horace Vandergelder, will deliver their final performances in the roles on Jan. 14. Directed by Jerry Zaks and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, the revival of Hello, Dolly! broke the record for best first day of ticket sales in Broadway history and has remained a coveted seat since it began performances on Broadway in March and opened in April. Also starring Gavin Creel and Taylor Trensch, the staging won four Tonys. Throughout the run, Donna Murphy has stepped into the lead role as Midler's alternate.
